Growing Up Untethered
Oregon & SW Washington is pleased to announce our Fall 2018 Chapter Meeting, with Julie Albright, Ph.D. keynote address ‘Growing Up Untethered’ and chapter social.
This talk brings the audience into the transitional world we find ourselves in this historical moment - how young people are hyper-attached to digital technologies, which Dr. Albright calls “coming untethered,” and how that changes everything. Infants are now acquiring digital skills before they learn to speak, and teens say they are online “almost constantly,” with many texting throughout the night. What impacts is this kind of early and pervasive 24/7 device connectivity having on younger users? What are the enabling and disabling factors? This talk will take a hard look at the connected lives of our digital natives – your kids, grandkids, or even employees of the future – and what challenges they face growing up digital, and how that will impact us all.
