Letter to Members

March 2022

Dear Membership,

The last couple of years were marked by the challenge of a global pandemic. What has been most amazing for me to witness over this period is the resiliency, and continued growth of the Data Center Industry. Remarkable, is the first word that comes to mind. I am reminded that none of this would be possible were it not for the professional men, and women of our industry. I know of many personal stories of folks working under adverse, and demanding circumstances created by the pandemic, and global supply chain issues. I am impressed by all of you, and confident of our collective momentum to build on past success in 2022.

On a personal level the last several years have seen new opportunities come and go. In November I decided to leave my role as a Global Alliance director with CBRE, to join Prime Data Centers.  What was interesting was how much my role at CBRE had changed as the result of the pandemic. I went from constant weekly travel to remote sites, to 100% working from home, managing the same global footprint.  Initially, I never envisioned not going back to the previous normal, but like many of you as time went on, it became clearer we have a new normal. The opportunity for me to work at Prime, brings me back to the owner/operator side of the business, and the opportunity to work for an entrepreneurial startup. I am excited by the opportunity to continue to serve as board President along with my new role.

The path forward for our board in 2022 is optimistic, confident we can improve upon our past performances. As a board we begin this year with 11 elected positions, several incumbent members, and several new directors.  The board participated in the initial 2022 Planning session, and we are committed to several key industry focus areas. We have adopted a new approach leveraging smaller workgroups, which will result in sharper focus and execution. I have included a full listing off these workgroups below, along with chairperson email address. If anyone is interested, please feel free to reach out as more help is always welcome.  Our priority is to host several member events, both virtual and in person. These are key to knowledge and information sharing, and industry networking.

As your President, and on behalf of the entire board, we are excited that 2022 and beyond will bring improved benefit to our members, and to the industry we serve. Thanks to each of you for your support, and the opportunities that continue to be out there for us all. Let us not lose sight of how fortunate we are in this industry. We look forward to seeing you all at a future event. Thanks for all the generous member and vendor support, our vision of leaving a legacy is alive and well.
